Egyptian Stone Weight |

| Description | A spherical hardstone one deben weight with flat base. The deben/qedet system was introduced during the New Kingdom and was used upto the Late Period. The deben was made up of ten qedet or kites, each being 9 grams. Incidentally, this was the Egyptian standard weight used for trade, whilst in many Near East areas multiples of eight grams were used. Prior to this time the deben was used either as a weight or value. |
